Puppy Placement Policy
At Painted Mountain Swissys, my top priority is ensuring that each puppy is placed in the home that is the best possible match for both the puppy and the family. While many people are accustomed to the idea of selecting a puppy themselves, we use a carefully considered placement process designed to set both the puppies and their new families up for long-term success.
Here’s how it works:
Why This Process?
Choosing a puppy based solely on appearance or from a brief visit can often lead to mismatches in personality, energy level, or compatibility with a family’s home environment and lifestyle. This placement process ensures that each puppy is placed where they are most likely to thrive and become a cherished member of the family.
I understand that everyone falls in love with certain looks or markings, but my primary goal is to match you with the puppy whose temperament and personality will be the very best fit for your family and lifestyle for the years to come.
Here’s how it works:
- Temperament & Structure Evaluations:
Each puppy in the litter is evaluated for both temperament and structure at 7–8 weeks of age. These evaluations provide valuable insight into each puppy’s personality, energy level, social tendencies, trainability, and conformation to breed standards. - Daily Observations:
In addition to the formal evaluations, we spend nine weeks raising, observing, and caring for these puppies, which allows me to learn the unique qualities and needs of each one on a daily basis. - Thoughtful Matching Process:
Using the information gathered from the evaluations and our personal experience with each puppy, we thoughtfully match puppies to families based on what we believe will be the best fit for both parties. We take into account each family’s lifestyle, preferences, experience level, and goals for their puppy. - Waitlist Position:
Being higher on the waitlist does not mean a family will have the opportunity to choose their puppy first. Instead, it means that when two families may be a great match for the same puppy, the family higher on the list will have priority placement for that puppy.
